With the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays, a quote from manager Pat Murphy has stood out to many after the NLCS win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, including NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. As the Brewers swept the Dodgers in the NLCS and prepare to play in the World Series for the first time since 1982, Antetokounmpo would share his excitement for the team.

Now with the Miami Heat after 13 seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks, Antetokounmpo became a minority owner with the Brewers in August of 2021, after helping to bring the city its first NBA championship in 50 years. According to Eric Nehm of The Athletic, Antetokounmpo shared how “incredible” it is for the Brewers to be in the World Series and shouted out Murphy and his quote about the team having “gamers.”

“It's incredible,” Antetokounmpo said. “I'm so happy for the team. It's been a lot of years in the works. (Brewers principal owner) Mr. Mark Attanasio, his family and his partners, really invested in that city and that team. They've done a great job developing players. I wish them nothing but the best, and I love what the coach (Pat Murphy) said. ‘(The Los Angeles Dodgers) might have had a lot of Hall of Famers, but we had a lot of gamers.' That's a quote that will last forever.”

The quote in reference was when Murphy praised his team after sweeping Los Angeles, saying that while the Dodgers have a “bunch of Hall Famers,” the Brewers “have a bunch of gamers.”

“And the gamers won this week,” Murphy said, via Fox Sports.
