The Milwaukee Brewers have quite a wait in front of them. After sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series, the Brewers will play the Cleveland Guardians or the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series.
The Brewers concluded their sweep of the Dodgers Thursday night. They won't play the first game of the World Series un October 23. The Guardians currently lead the American League Championship Series by a 2-1 margin over the Rays. If that series goes seven games, the ALCS is scheduled to end Tuesday. If weather has an impact on that series, it could end later than that.
In the meantime, Brewers manager Pat Murphy will have a chance to set his pitching rotation for the World Series and decide on a lineup. The Brewers will be attempting to win the World Series for the first time in team history. The only time the Brewers played in the World Series previously came in 1982 when they were the American League champions and lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.

One of the rewards of winning the NL pennant will take place in the 2027 season when Murphy will serve as the manager of the NL team in the All-Star Game. That game is scheduled to be played at Wrigley Field in Chicago, and former Brewers manager Craig Counsell will get a chance to coach on Murphy's staff since he is the manager of the host Cubs. Murphy was a trusted coach on the Brewers during Counsell's tenure in Milwaukee.
