The Carolina Panthers fell back into the loss column on Sunday afternoon with an ugly defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Browns. This game was a back and forth affair throughout, with Carolina ultimately losing thanks to a late touchdown from Deshaun Watson.
Things went from bad to worse when star cornerback Jaycee Horn went down with an injury, and now, the team has gotten the latest update on his status moving forward.
“Panthers Pro Bowl CB Jaycee Horn is out indefinitely after suffering a quad injury in Sunday’s loss to the Browns,” reported NFL insider Tom Pelissero of The Ringer and Netflix on X, formerly Twitter. “Horn is seeking a second opinion. But he’s likely to land on injured reserve and miss significant time.”
It's certainly not a great update for a Panthers team that has struggled to defend the pass game in two out of their first three contests so far, losing to both the Browns and the Chicago Bears, with a win over the Atlanta Falcons sandwiched in between.
Meanwhile, the team got a more encouraging injury update on wide receiver Jalen Coker, who also left Sunday's game.
“#Panthers WR Jalen Coker, who left Sunday's game early, suffered a minor quad strain, source said. He's considered questionable for this week, but good news overall for the promising young WR,” reported NFL insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
The Panthers will next hit the field next Sunday for a home night game against the Detroit Lions.
