A Different World star actress Jasmine Guy is responding to conversations about how she's aged since her appearances with Whitley Gilbert on the original series. Guy reprised her role in the sequel series, and despite critical acclaim for her return alongside Dwayne Wayne, many internet users have had fervent conversations about her appearance.

In an Instagram post Sunday evening, Guy shared photos of herself at an event and responded to the discourse in the caption.

“The internet can be brutal to women as we grow older. It asks us to celebrate life while criticizing every sign that we’ve lived it. Growing older brings change, and I won’t pretend every change is easy. But beauty, style, and joy don’t have an expiration date. Let’s spend less time judging ourselves and each other, and more time loving each other, making memories, and living the life we’re here to live,” she posted.

Jasmine Guy, 64, reprised her role as Whitley Gilbert in the Netflix sequel series A Different World. Gilbert is now a beauty mogul, and her Glitter by Gilbert product line has earned bestseller status. Gilbert's entrepreneurial success created a towering legacy for her daughter, Deborah Wayne. It also led to friction with her husband and New Hillman College Provost Dwayne Wayne.

Several fellow cast and crew members on the sequel series supported Guy in her response to critics.

“Yes Queen. We love you!” said Felicia Pride, showrunner for the A Different World sequel series.

“my beautiful queennn, love you more than words can say jasmine,” Kennedy Reese, who plays Hazel, commented.

“You are so Gorgeous! Even a more Gorgeous soul! I love you,” said Cornell Young IV, who plays Shaquille.
