The Green Bay Packers suffered a tough 20-17 loss at the hands of the Detroit Lions, who hit a walk-off field goal as time expired. The Lions were aided by a roughing the passer penalty on the Packers during second play of the final drive, which sent them on their way.

Packers pass rusher Micah Parsons, who was not playing as he continues to rehab his knee injury, was not pleased by the call against his team. He went to X, formerly Twitter, to vent his frustration at the league and its officials.

“Let’s just go to flag football if everytime a qb gets touched it’s roughing the passer!” Parsons wrote, tagging both the NFL and the NFL Officiating accounts.

As a pass rusher himself, Parsons should be keenly aware that the NFL has shifted toward protecting quarterbacks more in recent years. That includes having more roughing the passer penalties. It may be frustrating for pass rushers like Parsons, but it is just how the game is being officiated these days.

But while the roughing the passer penalty was a blow to the Packers, they still had their chances to get the road win, which they did not capitalize on. Trey Smack's two missed field goals – one at the start of the game and one that was blocked with the game tied – played a big part in their loss. Meanwhile, quarterback Jordan Love also threw a crucial interception in the fourth quarter with the Packers down 17-14.

As for Parsons, the latest updates suggest he is still weeks away from getting back on the field for the Packers this season. So in the meantime, expect some more social media commentary from him during Packers games.
