The Packers expect to play the rest of the season without star linebacker Edgerrin Cooper.

Cooper injured his Achilles on a non-contact injury, and it was as bad as it appeared when he required a cart to get off the field.

“Not good,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur told reporters after the team’s 17-14 win. “I would suspect [he tore his Achilles], yes.”

Achilles injuries are easily diagnosed, but Cooper will undergo an MRI to confirm.

Cooper totaled a team-leading nine tackles, a sack, a quarterback hit, an interception and a pass defensed before leaving with 8:43 remaining in the third quarter on Xavier McKinney’s sack of Jalon Daniels.

LaFleur was emotional about Cooper’s injury when he talked to Larry McCarren of the Packers Radio Network.

“It doesn’t look good on him,” LaFleur said. “That’s a huge blow for our football team. I hurt for him. I hurt for our team.”

Cooper will finish his season with 30 tackles, three sacks and an interception.
