Six years after the Buccaneers and Packers met in the NFC Championship, the rivalry is inching back toward “Bay of Pigs” territory.
And the home crowd at Raymond James Stadium could reflect the lack of local faith in the Bucs.
Via JoeBucsFan.com, last Sunday’s “home” game in Tampa Bay had a crowd that consisted of at least 40 percent Vikings fans. This week, it could be 50-50 between Packers fans and Buccaneers fans.
That may not be a good thing for the Packers, who were booed in their Week 3 home loss to the Falcons.
Both teams badly need a win. And while Green Bay’s offense seems to be broken, the Bucs will be starting undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels in place of Baker Mayfield, who has a dislocated thumb.
And while Daniels has said he plans to be the “thermostat” and not the “thermometer,” the Bucs may end up feeling like they’re getting their temperature taken the old-school way, with an oversized thermometer.
