As Pete Alonso has been achieving milestones with the Baltimore Orioles in his first season with the team, the star looks to continue to make an impact with the ball club. With Alonso wrapping up his 2026 season with the Orioles, he would have a thoughtful message to the fans about his first year in Baltimore.

Speaking to the media after the Orioles' 4-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays, which was the final home game in the regular season, he would talk about believing in the “baseball gods” and how he “was always meant” to be in Baltimore.

“I believe in the baseball gods, and I honestly believe that like I'm here for a reason,” Alonso said, via Avi Carr-Gloth.
“I was always meant to be a Baltimore Oriole, and I think people are like very appreciative and receptive to that, and I feel just as lucky and fortunate to be here as other people have told me. So it's special, I mean, that's really an understatement.”

Orioles' Pete Alonso on the city has ‘rolling out the red carpet' for him

With three games left in the season for the Orioles, Alonso has recorded a .264 batting average to go along with 41 home runs and 110 RBIs in what has been a successful first season in Baltimore. There's no denying that Alonso has felt the warmth from the fans, citing how the team and city have “rolled out the red carpet” for him.

“Whether it be fans, people here internally, teammates, like it's just the strong connection to the city because people have just made it so enjoyable. And I got nothing but amazing things to say about the city, the fans. Like, it's real people have welcomed my family, and I, like, the team, fans, coaches, everyone's rolled out the red carpet,” Alonso said.

It remains to be seen how Alonso finishes up the 2026 season with Baltimore, and while they're mathematically not eliminated from the playoffs, they're 78-81 and three-and-a-half games back of a wild card spot. The Orioles start the final series of the season on Friday against the New York Yankees.
