After learning that Jalen Hurts will miss multiple months of the season due to blood clots, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., issued a statement supporting one of its most well-known members. The fraternity posted on its social media pages, wishing Hurts a full recovery.
“Wishing you strength, healing, and a full recovery, Que! The Brotherhood is behind you. #JalenHurts 🙏🏾💜💛#SeeItThrough”
Hurts is a member of Omega Psi Phi and was initiated into the fraternity through the Alpha Tau Chapter at the University of Alabama. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated was established on November 17, 1911, in the Science Building, later renamed Thirkield Hall, on the campus of Howard University. Three undergraduates, Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper and Frank Coleman, founded the fraternity with help from their faculty advisor, Ernest Everett Just.
In an Andscape article by Martenzie Johnson, Hurts spoke about the fraternity's principles: manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift.
“Those are principles that I think takes a special man to live on and live by in all different areas of your life,” Hurts said in the feature. “And I feel like that’s something that is a good structure for me, a good structure for me and the man that I want to be.”

“Jalen’s prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery. We expect him to resume contact football activities once he is off the blood thinners. In the meantime, he will remain active around the team and continue to condition. More importantly, we anticipate that he will have no long-term effects.”
