Ohio State football enters Halloween week resting quarterback Julian Sayin. Signs pointed to Luke Fahey taking the reins behind center against USC. But coach Ryan Day offered a telling take Wednesday.

Five-star signing Tavien St. Clair could still handle snaps too. Day remains mum on who will face the now unranked Trojans.

“I’m not going to [name a starter], but both guys had a good week of practice,” Day said to reporters. “And I think both will be ready to play.”

Day added where his confidence level is with the QB room post Sayin, who left with a sling on his arm during the road win over Indiana.

“And I think guys on the team have confidence that both were put into the game that they could do their job,” Day said. “So we’ll keep preparing, and then we’ll see how Saturday goes.”

OSU still managed to snap the nation's longest winningest streak involving IU. The Hoosiers had won 22 straight before taking the 19-15 loss. The Buckeyes rested one week ago, helping them see what Fahey and St. Clair could bring to the offense.

Whoever indeed takes snaps will face more than an unranked Trojans team. USC is facing tensions with coach Lincoln Riley once again. Riley and the Trojans fell 24-7 to a previously unranked Wisconsin squad during OSU's bye. That became USC's second loss of the season, meaning the Trojans are now one loss away from potentially becoming eliminated from the Big Ten title race.

Ohio State returns to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the first time since 2008, which was a 35-3 USC win.
