The Houston Texans delivered the biggest pre-NFL Trade Deadline move Sunday. Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. heads to the AFC South franchise. Yet many wondered what else comes attached to the trade.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter released the details on Monday. Including if any draft capital will be involved. Sure enough, draft picks are linked to this move. But there's no future first rounder attached to this deal.
So the Texans gain a sixth rounder for the 2027 draft along with Harrison. The Cardinals, meanwhile, will receive a second rounder and seventh round choice for the upcoming April draft. But there's more added to this trade, which involves the former employer of Texans coach DeMeco Ryans.
“The 2027 7th-round pick going to Arizona from Houston is the pick that the Texans received from the [San Francisco] 49ers in 2024 in exchange for defensive tackle Khalil Davis,” Schefter said on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.
So Harrison wasn't worth sacrificing a first rounder for, despite still being very young in his career. But the Cards and head coach Mike LaFleur can an extra day two selection in this situation. Which they can potentially use on a wideout considering the high number of impact receivers available annually in each draft class.
Article Continues BelowThe final hurdle now is a physical for Harrison, then the trade becomes complete. Plus Harrison can be good to go in becoming inserted into the Houston offense.
Texans fans will be energized to see Harrison join another prominent past Ohio State star in quarterback CJ Stroud. Plus team with Pro Bowl wideout Nico Collins.
