The No. 5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish pulled off a big 35-13 Week 9 win over the Navy Midshipmen on Saturday, advancing to a 7-1 record on the season. It was a nice win for head coach Marcus Freeman, as it was the 50th win in his career.
That 50th victory proved to be a true accomplishment for the 40-year-old. Notre Dame announced on social media that Freeman is now tied for third-fastest head coach in program history to reach 50 career wins.
“Congratulations on your 50th win, Coach Freeman!” Notre Dame posted on X. “Freeman is tied for third-fastest to reach 50 wins in program history, behind Knute Rockne and Frank Leahy.”
