On Saturday afternoon, the Notre Dame football team is set to play host to the Stanford Cardinal for a big home matchup. The Fighting Irish enter this game with a perfect 5-0 record, not having faced a ton of adversity so far on the 2026 season.
Unfortunately, the team got a rough injury update with just hours to go until kickoff for this one.
“Sources: Notre Dame star cornerback Leonard Moore is not expected to play against Stanford today. He’d been listed as questionable as he recovers from a concussion,” reported college football insider Pete Thamel of ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.
Moore suffered the injury during last week's road win over the North Carolina Tar Heels, and not having him out there on Saturday will certainly hurt the Fighting Irish's cause. Moore is widely regarded as one of the team's top defenders, and the hope is that he will be able to recover in time for next week's big road game against BYU.
The good news for Notre Dame is that Stanford is not exactly the most difficult of opponents, as the Cardinal currently sit at 2-3 on the season, while Notre Dame is ranked at number three in the country with their undefeated record.
Article Continues BelowThe only true competitive game that Notre Dame has played in came last week in North Carolina, and the Fighting Irish will look to get back into their run of blowouts on Saturday.
In any case, kickoff between Notre Dame and Stanford is slated for 3:30 pm ET from South Bend.
