The NFL trade deadline is still weeks away, but four struggling teams could already be preparing to sell off talent and focus on the future. ESPN insider Adam Schefter identified the Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans, and Arizona Cardinals as teams to watch ahead of the Nov. 10 deadline, and their disappointing starts make it easy to understand why.
Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Schefter explained that teams struggling to win could look to shed salary and acquire additional draft picks. All four franchises have plenty of reasons to consider that approach, although the Chargers' situation is complicated by a growing list of injuries.
"The teams that you look at are the teams that aren't winning that can shed salaries and pickup draft picks..
I would look at the Dolphins, Chargers, Titans, and Cardinals" ~ @AdamSchefter #PMSLive https://t.co/ZO6om2KZqP pic.twitter.com/5tqEnIZLx7

Arizona and Miami have already started making major changes. The Cardinals traded wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Houston Texans, receiving a 2027 second-round and sixth-round pick in exchange for Harrison and a seventh-round selection. The Dolphins, meanwhile, began reshaping their roster during the offseason by trading away key talent like Jaylen Waddle. Both teams could continue looking for opportunities to build toward the future rather than chase immediate results.
Tennessee and Los Angeles have also struggled to find any momentum. The Titans fell to 0-5 after Sunday's 26-3 loss to Houston, while the Chargers dropped to 0-5 following a 23-17 defeat against the Denver Broncos. Los Angeles' record is surprising given the expectations entering the season, but injuries and many other failures have ravaged its roster and made it difficult to evaluate the team's full potential.
Article Continues BelowThe Cardinals are the only team on Schefter's list to have won a game, defeating the Chargers in Week 1 before losing four straight. Arizona's defense has also struggled mightily, allowing 45 points against Detroit in Week 5.
Other teams could join the seller conversation as the trade deadline approaches, but these four have plenty of reasons to listen to offers. With the losses piling up, acquiring draft capital and moving expendable veterans could become the priority over the next month.
