The NFL is working its way through the first quarter of the season as Week 5 dawns. We get the first two byes of the season with the Chiefs and Panthers sitting it out this week.

The week opens with Bucs-Cowboys on Thursday and then we get Eagles-Jaguars from London to start Sunday. The two best games of Week 5 are probably 49ers-Seahawks in the 4:25 p.m. ET window and Bills-Rams on Monday.

I remain mediocre at best with my weekly picks. I put together an 8-8 week, with 3-4 medium confidence picks and 3-3 low confidence picks. For the first four weeks of the season, I’m sitting at .500 overall. Not great1

Just a reminder that I pick games straight up with winners and losers, but I also provide a confidence level. I’ll pick each game’s winner and slot the picks based on confidence levels — high, medium, low, and no. A game with three asterisks (***) after it indicates a game where I’m picking the betting underdog to get the win. Whether you have to assign confidence points or not, this will help you know where I’m standing with the picks. And within each group, I’ve ordered them based on confidence within the confidence level.

Just a reminder that I’m a 49ers fan, so every week you should take that pick with a grain of salt.

High confidence

Cowboys over Buccaneers
Bengals over Dolphins
Jaguars over Eagles

Texans over Titans

Low confidence

Seahawks over 49ers
Rams over Bills
Falcons over Ravens
Packers over Bears***
