The Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans are both winless through four games, and their upcoming American Football Conference South meeting became the target of an unexpected social-media jab.

Houston and Tennessee enter their Week 5 matchup at 0-4, prompting NFL Memes to jokingly suggest on X (formerly Twitter) that the game should be moved to The Weather Channel. The network's official account responded Monday night with four words:

“I'm gonna pass.”

The exchange is emblematic of the adversity both franchises have encountered early in the second. The Texans were particularly expected to contend after making the playoffs in each of the previous three seasons and winning a postseason game every year during that stretch. ESPN's analysts and experts picked Houston as the third-most likely AFC representative to reach the Super Bowl, behind the Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills.

Instead, Houston has opened 0-4 for the first time since 2020. Still, the Texans have remained competitive in their losses to the Bills, Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys, with each defeat coming by one score. Their defense, however, has surrendered the seventh-most points per game and has already allowed two 30-point performances after giving up only one such game throughout the previous season.

The Titans' expectations were more modest entering Robert Saleh's first season as head coach. Tennessee's defense ranks ninth in points allowed per game, but the offense has lacked consistency. Second-year quarterback Cam Ward has completed 63% of his passes for 726 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. He ranks 21st among 30 qualified quarterbacks in QBR and has thrown only three touchdown passes through four games.

The Titans have also dropped three one-score games against the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens.

The Texans-Titans game remains scheduled for 1 p.m. ET Sunday in Nashville. With both teams winless, the matchup has become an easy target for jokes, but a fifth consecutive loss would be a huge setback for either side.
