How many bye weeks do NFL teams get in a season?
Each NFL team gets one bye week during the 18-week 2026 season.
When do bye weeks start this season?
For the 2026 NFL season, bye weeks begin in Week 5 (starting Thursday October 8).
When do bye weeks end this season?
For the 2026 NFL season, bye weeks end with Week 14. There are no bye weeks down the stretch of the season from Weeks 15-18.
Why are there no byes during Week 12?
All NFL 32 teams will be active in Week 12, which coincides with Thanksgiving week. There will be one game on Thanksgiving Eve (Wednesday, November 25) and three games on Thanksgiving Day (including the Chiefs and Bills on NBC/Peacock), one game on Friday November 27, 10 games on Sunday November 29, and one game on Monday November 30.
