As the Golden State Warriors look to figure out their roster's future, one huge bright spot to start the season is rookie Yaxel Lendeborg. Lendeborg has become a major feature on the Warriors roster, and many in the organization believe he is the team's future. Not only did they wheel and deal to land a pivotal player, but they also kept him away from another suitor who had him as a prospect but decided not to move up to select him in the 2026 NBA Draft.

“One team had Yaxel Lendeborg ranked 5th on their draft board, but opted not to move into the top 10 because they felt his personality “was going to be a tough fit in their locker room,” ESPN's Tim McMahon reported.

Lendeborg is averaging 21.5 points, 7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game while playing 31.9 minutes per night. He's drawn rave reviews from several members of the Warriors organization, including Steve Kerr after the Warriors' victory over the Denver Nuggets to notch their first win of the season last week.

“He's been good from the start offensively. You can see he's still a little out of control on some plays. When he learns to take an extra dribble as he attacks the big and slows down, he had one in the first half where he slowed down in transition, did a little euro step, and laid it in. We're going to see more and more of that.”

He also mentioned his strength.

“No, he's strong as an ox and skilled, and the way the game is played, he's going to be able to get to the line a ton. He saw it tonight. Basically, in all the critical moments of the game, we just put the ball in his hands. For a rookie to be that advanced already, it's extremely rare, but it's exciting because I think he's going to get a lot better too.”
