Eli Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tigers did an absolute beatdown on the Florida Gators in the 45-17 ranked upset on Saturday afternoon.
Drinkwitz and Missouri are off to a strong start to the 2026 season, standing out as one of the best teams in the nation. Their win over Florida, ranked No. 8 in last week's poll, saw them jump up from 25th place to No. 14. Meanwhile, Gators fell down to 16th.
Drinkwitz does not have any concern about that. When reporters asked him about the significance of the ranked win, the head coach shut it down with a blunt answer.
“Doesn’t mean anything. This is about this game,” he said Saturday evening. “It was a good win versus a really good team today. That’s all it was, guys.”
“Nobody in our locker room could have cared less about that. I couldn’t have cared less about that. Again, that’s stuff for you all to tweet about and to make up stories about and try to create some sort of narrative about me or my program. I really couldn’t care less. OK, the SEC is a hard league. Yeah, I’m done with that.”

How Eli Drinkwitz, Missouri performed against Florida
Many fans anticipated the matchup between Missouri and Florida to be a competitive one. Eli Drinkwitz and the Tigers had other plans, beating the brakes off of the Gators.
Missouri controlled the momentum for most of the game. After being even at three apiece in the first quarter, the Tigers went on to torch Florida 42-14 in the last three periods of the contest.
Austin Simmons prevailed with his performance leading the attack. He completed 23 out of 30 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns.
Jamal Roberts torched Florida defenders whenever he got the chance to run with the ball. He racked up 24 carries for 211 yards and a hat trick of three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Cayden Lee had a strong day in the receiving corps, making eight catches for 110 yards.
The No. 14 Tigers will look forward to their next matchup, being at home. They host the Texas A&M Aggies in Week 6 as kickoff commences on Oct. 10.
