The San Francisco 49ers exacted revenge on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, escaping with a nail-biting victory, 32-29, at Lumen Field. The Seahawks eliminated the 49ers in the divisional round in last season's playoffs en route to winning the Super Bowl.
Brock Purdy and Mike Evans led San Francisco's final drive, ending with Eddie Pineiro's game-winning kick. The 49ers improved to 5-0, while the Seahawks fell to 3-2.
The Seahawks tied the game at 29-29 with 6:55 remaining after Jason Myers' 40-yard kick. The defense, however, failed to stop the 49ers from moving the ball.
In the postgame conference, coach Mike Macdonald pointed out their biggest issue against San Francisco.
“Definitely taking care of the football. Way too many giveaways at this point in the season,” said Macdonald in the video posted by the Tacoma News Tribune's Gregg Bell.

The Seahawks had four turnovers.
Macdonald admitted that he was disappointed with the loss. He, however, remained pragmatic amid their up-and-down campaign.

I think we're a tough team, I think we're a connected team, but in terms of playing complementary football the way that we want to play if you're the Seahawks and becoming the team that we want to become, we're not there yet,” said the 39-year-old coach.
“The good news is we have a game in four days, and we can move forward and learn from it and try to grow from it.”
Sam Darnold went 18-of-29 for 195 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He was sacked five times.
The defending champions will take on the Denver Broncos on Thursday.
