Miguel Vargas was once considered a star prospect with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He made his MLB debut in 2022 but only appeared in 17 games. In 2023, Vargas received a more consistent opportunity but struggled across 81 games played. The Dodgers ultimately traded Vargas to the Chicago White Sox in 2024, and the move has completely changed the White Sox's franchise direction for the better.
Vargas' first full season with Chicago in 2025 was underwhelming, but he displayed potential. The 2026 campaign has represented a breakout season for the third baseman, though. Vargas earned his first All-Star selection, hit a home run in the MLB All-Star Game, and currently holds a strong .841 OPS to go along with 33 home runs, 31 doubles and 20 stolen bases.
The 26-year-old recently discussed his big season in an interview with MLB Network.
“I've been struggling in the league a lot, to be able to accomplish everything that I've accomplished this year means a lot for me,” Vargas said. “Being an All-Star, being around all these superstars, hit that homer in front of my family was very fun for me. They were very happy about it.”

“Just trying to be consistent at the plate,” the White Sox star said. “I feel like I've been working to put the ball in the air, hit for a little bit more power this year. It's not something that I wasn't trying to do in years previous, but I think this year I feel in a good spot. Just trying to be consistent.”
The White Sox currently trail the Cleveland Guardians by one game for the lead in the American League Central standings with four games remaining in the regular season.
