Jeremy Fears Jr. didn't hold back on the Final Four hopes the Michigan State Spartans have going into the 2026-27 season.

Fears is going through the fourth season of his collegiate career with the Spartans. He shines as one of the best players in the country, attempting to lead the program back to the national semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.

Michigan State hasn't won a national championship since 2000, last making the Final Four in 2019. Fears and Coen Carr were both present at the Big Ten Media Days, going over the team's expectations going into the season. While the goal was obvious, the way they revealed their ambition towards achieving the objective was noteworthy.

What lies ahead for Jeremy Fears, Michigan State this season

It's undeniable that Michigan State has national championship expectations on the mind. Jeremy Fears Jr. looks forward to helping them get back to the mountaintop, a place they haven't seen since 2000.

Fears achieved multiple accolades last season, emerging as one of the best guards in college basketball. He averaged 15.2 points, 9.4 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game throughout 35 appearances. He went on to earn a spot on the All-Big Ten First Team as well as Second Team and Third Team All-American honors. His playmaking skillset paved the way for him to become the nation's assist leader, as aspect that shines brightest from his game.

Michigan State is coming off a solid campaign last season. They finished with a 27-8 record, going 15-5 throughout its Big Ten matchups. They got to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament after beating North Dakota State and Louisville in the first two rounds. However, their season came to an end after losing 67-63 to the UConn Huskies.

The Spartans' 2026-27 regular season will get underway at home, hosting the Quinnipiac Bobcats. That contest will begin on Nov. 2 as tip-off commences at 7 p.m. ET.
