The Pittsburgh Steelers could be without two key players when they face the New England Patriots in Week 2, with wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. questionable and cornerback Joey Porter Jr. ruled out.
Pittsburgh listed Pittman as questionable for Sunday's road matchup because of a foot injury. The 28-year-old was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice before sitting out Thursday and Friday.
Porter, meanwhile, will not play against New England. The Steelers ruled out the star cornerback with a non-injury related/conditioning/back designation after he participated on a limited basis throughout the week.
Pittman's potential absence would take another important contributor out of Pittsburgh's lineup. The veteran receiver made his Steelers debut during their 20-13 Week 1 victory over the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday.
Pittman caught all three of his targets for 58 yards in the victory, providing an immediate contribution to Pittsburgh's passing attack. His availability will now remain uncertain heading into the weekend.
The Steelers will already need to adjust their secondary without Porter as they attempt to begin the season with consecutive victories.
Pittsburgh enters Sunday's matchup at 1-0, while New England sits at 0-1. The Steelers and Patriots will kick off Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
