Teenage whiz Cavan Sullivan's stock has taken yet another sharp rise.
The 16-year-old was named in Mauricio Pochettino's United States national team squad for the upcoming international break.
The make-up of the 28-man roster very much signifies a new era for the USMNT, with 12 players receiving their first call-up.
Adding to the freshness of the squad is that the average age of those called up is 22 years and nine months.
That is aided by the fact six players in the squad are aged 18 or under, including Sullivan, who turns 17 on September 28.
What has Mauricio Pochettino said about the USMNT squad?
"This is the beginning of a fresh start for everyone and we are excited in these first matches to bring a group of experienced players along with some young talents who have great potential," Pochettino said.
"It will be important that they all understand our culture, our way of working, and of course the principles of how we want to play.
"Most importantly, they must show the commitment to representing the country in the way our fans deserve."ÃÂ
Which big US names were not included in the 28-man squad?
There are a string of notable omissions, with Christian Pulisic, Folarin Balogun and Weston McKennie all left out.
However, McKennie is injured while Pulisic recently returned to fitness from a leg fracture he sustained at the World Cup.
As for Balogun, he has not featured for Monaco this season following his failed deadline day move to Everton.
Despite the trio's absence from the roster, all eyes will be Sullivan to see if he makes his debut.
Goalkeepers: Chris Brady, Matt Freese, Diego Kochen, Brian Schwake
Defenders: George Campbell, Sergino Dest, Alex Freeman, Peyton Miller, Neil Pierre, Chris Richards, Antonee Robinson, Miles Robinson, Auston Trusty, Frankie Westfield
Midfielders: Tyler Adams, Sebastian Berhalter, Zavier Gozo, Adri Mehmeti, Yunus Musah, Brooklyn Raines, Gio Reyna, Cavan Sullivan, Malik Tillman
Forwards: Mathis Albert, Cole Campbell, Justin Ellis, Julian Hall, Ricardo Pepi
Should Pochettino hand Sullivan his first senior cap, he would not be the USMNT's youngest ever player.
That record belongs to Freddy Adu, who made his international debut against Canada in January 2026 aged 16 years and 234 days.
How has Cavan Sullivan performed this season?
Regardless, the opportunity to get in front of Pochettino will be invaluable for Sullivan, who has dazzled for the Philadelphia Union this season with nine goals and nine assists.
Impressively, Sullivan has also made 21 starts for the Union this term, underlining how he has become a trusted member of the team despite his young age.
Unfortunately Philadelphia won't have Sullivan, who operates predominantly as a right midfielder, for much longer.
As part of the deal that brought him to the club at age 14, a clause was inserted into the contract that he would join Manchester City when he turns 18.
Given Sullivan is only one year out from his 18th birthday, City boss Enzo Maresca will soon have to factor in the American midfielder into his plans.
But once the move is complete, Sullivan faces a serious challenge to break into City's starting line-up.
Antoine Semenyo, who joined City from Bournemouth in January, figures as the club's first choice at right wing.
English star Phil Foden is another right wing option, although he has struggled for form and was controversially sent off in his last outing.
The USMNT face Peru, Chile, Mexico and Canada in their first matches since the World Cup, which saw them exit at the last 16 with a 4-1 thumping against Belgium.
