Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve was cryptic but remained honest about the pending future of Napheesa Collier going into free agency.

Reeve has been the Lynx's head coach since 2010, leading the franchise to four championships. The last one came in 2017 as the coach recently got the team back to the WNBA Finals in 2024.

However, Minnesota came off a stunning first-round exit after losing to the New York Liberty. Collier only signed a one-year deal for the 2026 campaign, making her a free agent at season's end. When reporters asked Reeve about Collier, the coach was honest about the star's situation.

“She just finished year eight, 30 years old. Sometimes you stay and sometimes you go because maybe there's something, I don't want to say better, but maybe better for her, and that's something that I respect … We're honest with each other, and she signed a one-year [deal] for a reason, right? Whatever she decides, we're both going to be okay and that's something that I feel strongly about,” Reeve said, per reporter Geoff Magliocchetti.

Napheesa Collier obviously addressed her situation going into free agency after the season. While she hasn't given it much thought, she expressed her rave reviews on representing the Lynx alongside Cheryl Reeve.

“I haven't even thought about that … I can tell you, I love it here. I love the organization … But I just haven’t had the time to give it any thought,” she said.

Minnesota boasts incredible talent as one of the best teams in the WNBA. They finished with a 33-11 record throughout the regular season, securing the top seed in the Western Conference standings.

However, they suffered a shocking first-round exit against the Liberty. They lost 91-75 in Game 1 at home then fell 87-71 on the road in Game 2, effectively ending their season.
