Following the Los Angeles Lakers' victory over the Sacramento Kings, Luka Doncic weighed in on NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins comparing him to Kobe Bryant on a recent edition of the Road Trippin’ podcast. Perkins compared Bryant and Doncic based on their mentality
Luka after his 100th game with the Lakers:
“It’s a lot of honor. I think we all know who Kobe was, what he meant to everybody, especially basketball-wise. He was an idol for a lot of people, so it means a lot that I’m mentioned next to his name” https://t.co/fuMdBacRPU pic.twitter.com/45yIpImcOE

“Luka is the closest thing to Kobe Bryant that we’ve seen out of all the young guys that are coming up. He don’t give a damn, honestly, what his teammates feel about him when they’re on the floor. It’s not a shot that he don’t love or don’t think that he can’t make, and he can make them.”
Following the game Doncic spoke humbly about Perkins' comments on what was, ironically, his 100th game as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
“It’s a lot of honor. I think we all know who Kobe was, what he meant to everybody, especially basketball-wise. He was an idol for a lot of people, so it means a lot that I’m mentioned next to his name”

A fitting irony of Perkins' praise of Doncic is that he now sits alongside Bryant and Elgin Baylor as the only two other Lakers to score 35-plus points in six consecutive games.
Doncic also spoke post-game about whether this was the hottest offensive stretch of his career.
“Maybe,” Doncic said. “I don't know. I've had some good stretches in my career. Obviously, this could be one of the highest ones. But still some work to do.”
