On Sunday, the Detroit Lions picked up a big home win over the Minnesota Vikings, but the bigger story of the game was the injury sustained by linebacker Jack Campbell, who went down with a scary neck injury and was transported to the hospital. The attention of the NFL world was on Detroit throughout the evening on Sunday as they waited for updates on the injured player.
Now, the team has released the latest update on Campbell's status.
“Jack Campbell continues to rest and recover at a local hospital. Preliminary indications are positive and out of respect for Jack and his family we will not share further information at this time,” reported the Lions on their official team account on X, formerly Twitter.
Later, NFL insider Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network reported on X that “#Lions HC Dan Campbell says ‘it’s positive' on LB Jack Campbell and ‘your prayers are working.' Asks for continued prayers.”
The game on Sunday was paused for several minutes when Campbell went down with the injury, ultimately having to be placed on a stretcher, with the entire Lions team coming out onto the field and taking a knee.
While the Lions clearly are being careful with what information they release on the linebacker's status, it certainly seems like things are trending in a positive direction at this time.
In any case, the Lions will next hit the field Sunday for a road game against the Miami Dolphins. Kickoff for that one is set for 1:00 pm ET.
