Although the Los Angeles Dodgers fell short of winning their third straight World Series title this October, they stand a good chance of winning come next fall. However, the team could use upgrades at a couple of spots. One such position is second base. If Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman and his staff can nab an upgrade over Tommy Edman, it would provide a solid boost to the lineup. Appearing on Foul Territory TV Monday, ex-MLB GM Jim Bowden revealed who Los Angeles should trade for. According to the show's X (formerly Twitter) page, Bowden believes the Dodgers should swing a deal for Washington Nationals All-Star CJ Abrams.

“CJ Abrams is the guy I want to second base if I'm the Dodgers,” stated Bowden. “30 homers, 30 steals last year. I'd love him to be around Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman for the next couple of years.”
Article Continues BelowAbrams has been the Nationals' starting shortstop since arriving in the Juan Soto trade a few summers ago. The former top prospect has blossomed into one of baseball's best offensive middle infielders. However, his defense at shortstop has been decent at best. Many believe he'd become a strong second baseman.
If Friedman and the Dodgers dealt for Abrams, that's exactly where they'd deploy him. In time, he could take over for Betts at shortstop. However, Los Angeles does have some alternatives at the position as well. Trading for Abrams would also allow Edman to take over the super utility role, something the Dodgers could use too. The amount of prospect capital that Los Angeles would have to send back to Washington would likely be high. However, the Dodgers can afford to do it. So, will Friedman bring in yet another All-Star to reinforce the lineup? If so, don't be surprised to see Abrams have a big impact in his westward return.
