Ligue 1 odds 2026/27: Can anyone stop PSG going six in a row?

Paris Saint-Germain have won five Ligue 1 titles in a row, setting a new club record in the process, and they are also back-to-back European champions following their dramatic victory over Arsenal in last season's Champions League final.

It is no surprise, then, that the Ligue 1 odds 2026/27 have PSG as strong favourites to finish top of the table once again. The opening month has been considerably less comfortable than that suggests.

In this article, we analyse PSG and the potential challengers to their throne in Ligue 1, as well as taking a look at which French clubs could face English opposition in Europe.

The PSG title odds show that Luis Enrique's men remain overwhelming favourites after amassing 76 points and a +60 goal difference last season.

The chasing pack looks very different to the one the bookies expected, though. Lille have been backed into second in the betting after making the best start in France, while Monaco sit alongside them at the top of the table. Marseille and Lens have both drifted.

Despite the relative merits of Monaco, Lille, Marseille and Lens, it would still be a major surprise if PSG failed to win the Ligue 1 title in 2026/27. They have been here before, and 76 points last season came with most of their focus elsewhere.

The Ligue 1 winner odds underline PSG's dominance compared to the rest of the field, but here is a closer look at the defending champions and their main competitors for the season ahead.

PSG under Luis Enrique

Five titles in a row speaks volumes about PSG's strength in relation to the 17 other sides in Ligue 1. Not only that, but Luis Enrique's team won the Champions League in 2024/25 and 2025/26, becoming only the second club to lift that trophy in consecutive years since the tournament was rebranded in 1992.

PSG's squad is packed full of talent. Ousmane Dembélé is the reigning Ballon d'Or holder, with Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia completing a star-studded attack.

Achraf Hakimi is arguably the best right-back around, while Vitinha in midfield and Marquinhos at centre-half are also world-class. That is an accurate word to describe coach Luis Enrique too.

The start has been slow even by their own standards. PSG opened with draws at home to Rennes and away at Lille, and their price has eased from 1/5 to 1/4 as a result. That is a long way from a crisis for a side that has taken its time to click in each of the last two seasons, but it does mean the gap they usually build early has not appeared.

PSG's dominance is not necessarily a good thing for Ligue 1 as a whole, though, so many within French football are hoping to see them pushed harder this season.

The chasing pack

Lille are the ones who have taken advantage. They finished third last season ahead of both Lyon and Marseille, and the appointment of Davide Ancelotti, son of Carlo, to replace the departing Bruno Génésio has worked immediately. They are unbeaten and top of the table, having taken a point off PSG along the way, and their title price has come in from 20/1 to 14/1.

Monaco are level with them on points and second in the betting at 11/1. Folarin Balogun leads their line after 12 league goals last season, and they have the added complication of a Conference League campaign to juggle.

Lens were runners-up last season and managed to keep pace with PSG for much of 2025/26 before Luis Enrique's side pulled clear at the summit. They also won the Coupe de France, and they beat PSG 1-0 through a Florian Thauvin goal in the Trophée des Champions in August.

Since then it has unravelled. Losing influential manager Pierre Sage to Crystal Palace has bitten harder than expected, with Dino Toppmöller taking four points from the opening four games to leave Lens tenth. Their price has drifted from 25/1 to 33/1, the longest of the five contenders here.

Marseille have fared worse still. Génésio arrived from Lille with Facundo Medina and Timothy Weah among the signings, but Mason Greenwood's 16 Ligue 1 goals went to Fenerbahçe and OM have won once in four. They sit thirteenth and have drifted to 25/1.

Paulo Fonseca is still in charge of Lyon, who finished fourth last time out and have started steadily, unbeaten with eight points. Afonso Moreira left for Bayer Leverkusen, with Mads Bidstrup and Loïs Openda among the newcomers at the Groupama Stadium.

Troyes are back in Ligue 1 after a three-year absence, while Le Mans have returned to the top tier following 16 years outside it. They are among the favourites to go down to Ligue 2, with Angers, Le Havre, Paris FC and Brest also viewed as relegation contenders by the bookies.

Le Mans have at least proved awkward, drawing three of their opening four, though a first win has yet to arrive. Paris FC have made a nonsense of their own relegation price so far, sitting inside the top five.

The bottom two teams will go straight down to the second division, while the 16th-place finishers will enter the relegation play-off, where they will take on the winner of the promotion play-off in Ligue 1.

PSG were the strongest side in Ligue 1 last season, but the top scorer was Esteban Lepaul, who scored 21 goals for Angers and Rennes, a relatively modest tally by the standards of Europe's other major leagues.

Mason Greenwood of Marseille and Joaquín Panichelli of Strasbourg finished joint-second with 16 goals, but the former has since moved to Turkey.

Monaco frontman Folarin Balogun, who found the back of the net 12 times in 2025/26, is another contender to finish as the league's chief goal-getter, while Ousmane Dembélé is PSG's best bet.

Dembélé has drifted from 9/2 to 5/1 as PSG's slow start has held his numbers down, which makes the price better than it was in August for anyone who expects them to come good.

⚔️ Which Ligue 1 clubs will face English opposition in Europe?

All three of France's Champions League representatives will face English opposition in the league phase, with Lens handed the daunting prospect of hosting Man City and travelling to Anfield to round out their eight fixtures. They will therefore hope to secure enough points to finish at least in the 9-24 section before then.

PSG won't be far from the headlines wherever they go, as back-to-back European champions. On neither occasion, however, have they finished in the top eight of the league phase and avoided the playoff round.

An early trip to Manchester could help them make it third time lucky in that regard and send out a statement to the rest of the continent. They also return to Villa Park, where they had to survive something of an onslaught from Unai Emery's side in the quarter-finals in 2025.

In the other competitions, Lyon welcome Conference League winners Crystal Palace on matchday 2 of the Europa League and in the Conference League, Monaco will travel to Brighton in one of the standout ties in the first phase. The principality club will also take on Hearts in Edinburgh. Marseille won't yet face an English team, but will go north of the border to Celtic Park in January.

The obvious pick before the season was Marseille, on the basis that Bruno Génésio needed a few months to get his ideas across but had the strongest squad of the chasing pack. One win in four has pushed them out from 3/1 to 9/2, and Lille and Monaco have both overtaken them at the top of the table.

The counter-argument is that a longer price on the same squad is the bet, and OM have the individual quality to climb quickly once results turn. Anyone who preferred the form would take Lille instead.

The Ligue 1 season began on 21st August 2026 and runs until 29th May 2027. PSG started the defence of their crown with back-to-back draws at home to Rennes and away at Lille, but are known for taking their time to truly click.
