At Media Day, ahead of his 24th NBA season, LeBron James' excited about his Philadephia 76ers debut. In pursuit of his fifth championship, James has loft goals for the 76ers, but understands it will take time for his new team to blossom into title contenders. He's looking forward to the process.

James has led every single team he's played for to a title, and knows the work that lies ahead for the 2026-27 76ers, he said, per The Philly Voice's Adam Aaronson.

“Work needs to be done, and I'm ready to put the work in,” James said.

LeBron concluded his press conference at Sixers Media Day by stating he didn't move away from his family to lose in the second round of the playoffs, thus reminding 76ers fans of winning a title being the ultimate goal.

76ers veteran LeBron James knows what it takes for a team to win a championship. It's one thing he undoubtely has in common with 76ers head coach Nick Nurse, who guided the Raptors to a title in 2019.

One thing James and Nurse both agreed upon is the importance of being an elite defensive team, James revealed, per Mind The Game podcast.

“I've been able to be on some really good defensive teams in my career, and defense always comes down to the first thing: pride. It's a pride thing,” James said. “I'm not going to allow my guy to continue to exploit me or beat me or whatever the case may be. There has to be some pride.”

For James, rattling opposing teams' offense is critical for the 76ers' success this upcoming season.

“At the end of the day, the best defense never stops the best offense anyways, and that's okay,” James added. “But if we can make teams uncomfortable, if we can make teams turn the ball over, if we can make teams just not be in a rhythm like they're accustomed to being in a rhythm versus other teams, it gives us another opportunity. It gives us more possessions. We want to try to win the possession game.”

LeBron and the 76ers will begin their preseason schedule with a matchup against the Knicks on October 5.
