Jared McCain is shooting for greatness this upcoming NBA season, and his nail polish color is there to prove how serious he is.

McCain showed up to Oklahoma City Thunder Media Day with gold nail polish, so a reporter asked him to show off the color he decided on ahead of the 2026-2027 season.

“Gold is the standard. We are trying to win a championship,” McCain said with a smile.

Several fans in the comment section agreed with McCain as OKC is determined to win another NBA championship.

“Jared McCain understood the assignment!” one fan wrote in agreement with the NBA star.

McCain is entering his third season in the NBA and his first full season with OKC after being traded from the Philadelphia 76ers in February.

Ahead of the next 2026-2027 NBA season, OKC's General Manager Greg Presti said that he is excited for what McCain has to bring to the table in his first full season. “He had the emotional intelligence, in my opinion, to walk into our environment and navigate that, but also still play with confidence. I think that's a really unique thing. Again, those are the rarities, I think, of high performers.”

McCain was a key player in OKC's playoff run last season and Presti is confident that there is more to him than meets he eye.

“I think starting with everybody at a baseline — in training camp like this — is going to do him well. Because there's a lot more to him as a player than a guy who can come off and rip off a bunch of threes,” Presti said. “I've watched him for a very long time. He's a winning player. He understands the things that drive winning and intangibly, non-statistically. I think he's a more balanced player than we got to see because he was trying to fit in with the current group.”

OKC's first preseason game will be against the New Orleans Pelicans on Oct. 6 at 8 p.m.
