The Philadelphia 76ers welcomed LeBron James with open arms on Thursday night for his first game. The 76ers pulled off a 29-point comeback win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, 114-106.

James finished with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds against his former team.

After the game, James reflected on the intensity of the free agent period this summer when it came to choosing a team. He openly admitted that he was seriously considering returning home to Cleveland, where his legendary career got started, per Tony Jones of The Athletic.

“The nature of the meeting, I probably won’t discuss much,” James said on Thursday night. “But it was in consideration, for sure. I mean, obviously, as a team trying to build towards a championship and things of that nature, I was trying to decide where I wanted to go with the rest of my career, to finish my career, or the next step. So, they had a lot of consideration for sure.”

In 2003, James was drafted straight out of high school by his hometown team. Seven years later, he joined the Miami Heat, where he won 2 championships in 2012 and 2013.

In 2015, James returned to Cleveland, where he led the Cavs to the title in 2016 before joining the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018. Two years later, the Lakers won a championship.

Now, James is looking to win another championship for a different team. If successful, it would be a unique legacy amongst the greatest players of all time.

The 76ers are off to a 2-0 start and will play the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, October 24.
