FootballâÂÂs equivalent of the Joker returns to Gotham City on Saturday, when coach Lane KiffinâÂÂs LSU team plays at Ole Miss, the program he ditched during a playoff season.
College GameDay is on the scene. And the âÂÂfuck Lane Kiffin!â chant came early. (A preview of it happened during SportsCenter, when Stanford Steve did a quick segment from the scene in Oxford.)
ThereâÂÂs not much ESPN can do about that. And, in this day and age, itâÂÂs no longer as jarring as it used to be to hear âÂÂFâ bombs on live TV.
But itâÂÂs a snapshot of the vitriol Kiffin will be facing all day and all night when he faces a school that had its best chances ever to chase a championship â and that he abandoned before the job was finished.
And so the man at the center of the effort to remove the so-called âÂÂchaosâ in college football will be dealing with a different kind of chaos until the game ends and Kiffin exits the playing field.
Meanwhile, hereâÂÂs hoping someone explains to Kirk Herbstreit why Kiffin is being booed. Because even KirkâÂÂs dog understands that one.
