Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers took care of the Miami Heat on Monday night, and now the Lakers star is getting some good news from the league office about the technical foul he picked up in the win.

The NBA rescinded the second-quarter technical upon league office review, according to the league’s official announcement. Los Angeles won the game 138-117 at Crypto.com Arena.

Doncic was whistled for the technical after clapping, and he was not happy about it. He argued with the officials, frustrated by what he saw as a double standard.

“I clapped. That’s a technical!? If it was anybody else, you know it’s not a technical,” Doncic was heard saying.

In the end, the league sided with him.

It is a meaningful decision for Doncic, who has had his share of run-ins with officials. Last season, the Lakers star reached the 16-technical threshold that triggers an automatic one-game suspension. The NBA rescinded what would have been his 16th technical in March after an exchange with Orlando Magic center Goga Bitadze, but Doncic picked up another one in a win over the Brooklyn Nets days later and was forced to sit out a game.

With the latest technical wiped off his record, Doncic gets a bit more breathing room early in the 2026-27 campaign.

The technical did not slow him down on Monday, either. Doncic poured in 42 points on 14-of-24 shooting, including 6-of-15 from three, while adding 13 assists, seven rebounds and two steals. He also went 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Austin Reaves added 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting, and Walker Kessler posted a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds. The Lakers shot 57.3% from the field and dished out 39 assists in the blowout win.

Giannis Antetokounmpo led Miami with 30 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, while Klay Thompson chipped in 19 points.

The performance came just one night after Doncic made NBA history against the Toronto Raptors, becoming the only player ever to post 45 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, five steals and eight 3-pointers in a game.

The win improved the Lakers to 6-2 on the season. Doncic and Los Angeles will look to keep rolling when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.
