The Dallas Mavericks are set to begin a season with Kyrie Irving. His return to the court coincides with updated renovations to their practice facility in Dallas.
A fresh new start, if you will.
Not only that, but the facility revealed an upgrade that Irving himself requested and is beyond belief, per Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News. They put in a walk-in sauna that Irving advocated for.
Other upgrades included natural light on the main floor and an expanded players' lounge. It also includes a chef-driven program added to the dining area, along with upgrades to the barbershop built into the facility.
Advocating for a walk-in sauna isn't too surprising coming from Irving, considering that he needs all the support and wellness he can get. In March 2025, Irving suffered an ACL tear that sidelined him for the rest of the season.
He had to watch as the Mavericks witnessed the rise of Cooper Flagg, who won Rookie of the Year. Now, they will be on the floor together for the first time. In many ways, Irving's presence will help to relieve a tremendous amount of defensive pressure on Flagg.
Either way, it's poised to be an effective one-two punch
The Mavericks are also looking to rejuvenate in other ways, starting with Masai Ujiri leading the front office. In addition, Dusty May will begin his first season as head coach, after leading the Michigan Wolverines to the national championship in April.
New day, new mindset, new facility, new everything for a team in desperate need of a boost.
