The New York Yankees took care of business without much fuss in their AL Wild Card series clash against the Boston Red Sox, sweeping the best-of-three with a run differential of +16. This domination would not have been possible without ace Cam Schlittler, who set the tone for the Yankees with a strong Game 1 start in which he shut out the Red Sox over 6.1 innings, striking out 10 while allowing just two hits and one walk — earning himself a huge fan in New York Knicks forward Josh Hart.

Hart, speaking to reporters on Thursday, waxed poetic when talking about the Yankees ace and went as far as to go biblical — saying that Schlittler might have his place alongside two deities in the throne of heaven.

“I'm very religious. I know Jesus is at God's right hand, but I think Cam Schlittler might be at his left. I'm excited, man,” Hart said, via Ian Begley of SNY.

Josh Hart, noted Yankee fan, was asked if he has Yanks in 5 for the ALDS:

“I know Jesus is at God's right hand, but I think Cam Schlittler might be at his left,” he said.

The Knicks forward said that he will be in attendance for Game 3 of the ALDS, when the series shifts from the Tampa Bay Rays' home at St. Petersburg to Yankee Stadium. Alas, Schlittler is currently penciled in to start for the Yankees in Game 2 of the ALDS on the road, so Hart won't be around to witness a performance from the purported “left-hand man” of God.

Schlittler continues to rise to the occasion for the Yankees, and as he showed last year, when he was still a rookie, that the postseason does not faze him whatsoever. In fact, Schlittler seems to perform better when the lights are at their brightest, and in adverse conditions.

In 2026, Schlittler has a better ERA on the road (1.16) than he has at home (2.86). Against the Rays this year, he has an ERA of 2.86 in 16.0 innings (three starts). He will once again be expected to work his magic for New York as they soldier on in their quest to win the franchise's 28th World Series title.
