The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to return to the playoffs in the 2026-27 season. As the team prepares for opening night on Tuesday, the Maple Leafs are engaged in talks to acquire Kirill Marchenko from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Now, those talks have come to fruition, according to hockey insider Elliotte Fredman.

The Maple Leafs will be acquiring Marchenko, Miles Wood, and Elvis Merzlikins. The Blue Jackets will be retaining some of the salary for Merzlikins. Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets will receive Matthew Knies, Steven Lorentz, and Emil Andrae with a second-round pick.
