Former Clippers forward Ben Simmons sat out the 2025-26 NBA season but signed with the Sacramento Kings this offseason giving him a chance at redemption. Simmons told GM Scott Perry he is now healthy which influenced his decision to sign him.

Now that Simmons has proven himself worthy of a new contract, the Kings forward has revealed his goals for the 2026-27 NBA season.

“To dominate. Every time I step on the floor to dominate,” Simmons said.

Simmons signed with the Clippers in 2025 after reaching a buyout agreement with the Nets. The 6-foot-10 native of Mebourne, Australia came into the NBA with high hopes and had a promising rookie season in 2017-2018, winning Rookie of the Year honors with the Philadelphia 76ers. Simmons faltered in the years following, losing faith in his jump shot and losing his ability to knock it down at a high rate.

Simmons is a strong rebounder. His glass cleanup skills have remained intact since entering the league as he has averaged over seven rebounds in five seasons. He averaged nearly four rebounds last season with the Clippers in limited minutes, although his scoring remained dismal at less than three points per game.

The Kings are rolling the dice on a player with a world of talent and uncommon size and mobility for his position. Simmons has had the luxury of taking time off to reevaluate where he fits in today's NBA landscape and at 30 years old still has plenty of gas left in the tank to contribute to an NBA team.

Sacramento will need Simmons to provide quality time on the court in a conference full of massive centers and power forwards. A chance at rebirth awaits, but for now Simmons is making sure his teammates knows where he stands on what this season can bring.
