The Florida football team lost a disappointing game recently to South Carolina, in SEC play. It was a tough blow to Florida head coach Jon Sumrall, who is in his first season there. Sumrall's son was apparently quite mad at his dad for losing that game.

“And Sam texts me and says, ‘Dad, I don’t know if this is forgivable.’ Like, I don’t know if I can forgive you for this. And I’m like, ‘Well son, you’ve done a few things that I don’t know if I can forgive you for either.’ … Sam is 13 going on 30,” Sumrall said, per On3, about the message his son sent him after the game.

This is of course all in jest. It was a tough loss though for a Florida team that got ranked under Sumrall in Year 1. South Carolina dominated Florida, 38-19. It was South Carolina's first win this season in SEC play.

The Florida Gators are now 4-2 on the season, after the loss to the Gamecocks. Florida has now dropped back-to-back games to the Gamecocks, as well as Missouri.

“Look, we’re passionate. We want to win. We care about doing it the right way. I want our fan base to have great success. I want our players to have great success. We’re gonna get there. We’re going through a rough patch clearly. I didn’t foresee this coming … but we have so much work to do to become a championship caliber team. We’re gonna keep fighting,” Sumrall added.

Florida is no longer ranked after the South Carolina loss. It has certainly been an emotional roller-coaster for Gators fans. Earlier this year after a win over Ole Miss, the Gators reached the top 10 in the Associated Press poll.

Florida hopes to get back on the right track, when they next play Texas on Saturday.
