Rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. caught one pass for 30 yards, but his NFL debut ended earlier than he, or the Jets, would have liked.
At the end of that reception, he went down clutching his ankle and had to be carted off the field in the first quarter.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Cooper Jr. is considered week-to-week with an ankle sprain, but will avoid the injured reserve list.
Still, with their star rookie out with no firm return date, the Jets have added some depth to their practice squad.

Johnson was selected in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, where he immediately broke onto the scene as a secondary wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As a rookie, he helped the Buccaneers win Super Bowl LV over the Kansas City Chiefs, before posting 360 yards in his sophomore season.
Johnson was released by Tampa Bay ahead of the 2022 season, and has since bounced around the league.
He had short stints with the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams, before suiting up for the Gang Green in 2025.
Last season, Johnson caught 12 passes for 197 yards and a score, showing off his big-play abilities during his time on the field.
Johnson worked out with the Dallas Cowboys over the summer, but wasn't able to crack their 53-man roster.
With Cooper expected to miss time, the front office has gone with someone who has experience playing in New York.
The same can be said for Shepard, who spent the first eight years of his career with the New York Giants, before spending the last two campaigns with the Buccaneers.
During his time with Big Blue from 2016-23, he played 90 games (74 starts) with 4,095 yards and 23 touchdowns.
While neither Shepard nor Johnson are expected to step into a primary role over Garrett Wilson or Adonai Mitchell, bringing in two seasoned pass-catchers provides head coach Aaron Glenn with insurance.
Glenn entered the season on the hottest seat in the NFL, but their Week 1 victory is sure to have relieved the pressure.
If the additions of Shepard and Johnson can steady the wideout group while Cooper heals, New York will be in a far better position to sustain that early success.
