The New York Jets have signed edge rusher Nate Lynn to their active roster after losing defensive end Braiden McGregor to a season-ending pectoral injury ahead of their Week 5 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
McGregor suffered the injury during Sunday's 23-12 loss to the Chicago Bears. The 24-year-old had played 49 defensive snaps, making up 18% of New York's defensive workload, while also appearing on 45% of the team's special teams snaps. He had taken on an increased role because of injuries to Joseph Ossai and Kingsley Enagbare and had provided dependable work against the run.
Lynn now gets the roster spot that opened up with McGregor's injury. The William & Mary product joined the Jets in mid-August after arriving relatively late to their offseason 90-man roster. He previously spent time with the Detroit Lions in 2024 and was on the Tennessee Titans' practice squad for much of the 2025 season.
His preseason performance made him a standout candidate for the promotion. Lynn played in New York's final two preseason games versus the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants, amassing eight tackles and three sacks. Across those two appearances, he recorded a team-high six pressures and received an 86.5 Pro Football Focus grade, which ranked seventh among 173 edge defenders who logged at least 30 preseason snaps.
Despite that production, Lynn was released during final roster cuts before returning to the Jets' practice squad. Across three NFL preseasons, he has produced an 18.4% pressure rate.

Lynn will also have to contribute against the run, with Joseph Ossai and Kingsley Enagbare serving as the team's proven edge-setters.
