The New York Jets have plenty of question marks. But they also have a player who seems to want to make it work. Still, the Jets need a franchise QB. And a Jets legend turned to the 49ers instead of the NFL Draft in 2027, for a solution to the problem.

Mac Jones should be the target, according to Ratings.

“We’ll see what happens with Kyler Murray if they decide to sign Kyler Murray (in Minnesota), but in my vision, you sign Mac Jones because of money,” Bart Scott said. “So he’s going to come out and not take a lot of money. I think it’ll come out maybe $40 million instead of the $60 or $70 million that top-end guys get.

“The Jets still have salary cap space. But then what a luxury that Chris Ballard got fired because the Indianapolis coach sucked. Which means that the Jets are going to have a tremendous high-value first-round draft pick. Could you imagine if they’re able to get Jeremiah Smith?”

Jets looking to get things turned around in 2026

One of the areas the Jets need to be better in is the late stages of each half, according to the New York Post. Since Glenn took over last year, the Jets have the NFL’s worst point differential (119-49) in the final two minutes of both halves.

“There are some things that we pinpointed that we have to improve on … [including] how we operate in two minutes,” Glenn said. “That’s on both sides of the ball. We just didn’t end up finishing. That’s something we have to continue to work on is being able to finish. Obviously, we did it [in the Week 5 win] against Cleveland, but we failed this game.”

Glenn said he understands the angst. The Jets have given up 11 touchdowns and eight field goals in the final two minutes of each half since the start of last season. Meanwhile, they haven’t scored a touchdown in those situations themselves since 2024.

“I know that on both sides of the ball, we have to get better at that and that’s something we work on quite a bit,” Glenn said. “The thing is we just have to continue to work. Usually when you do that, the work is gonna take care of itself, and it’s gonna end up showing up on Sunday.”
