The Dallas Cowboys got better on defense this week, and they did so by trading for Joey Porter Jr. from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Porter has shown throughout his young career that he's one of the better cornerbacks in the league, and the Cowboys believe he can make a real impact on their team.
Jerry Jones specifically believes that, which is why he made the trade. In fact, he's hoping that he can get the same return on investment as he did when he traded for George Pickens, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.
“Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on [1053thefan] said he's hoping the trade for CB Jerry Porter Jr. can have similar results as the George Pickens trade. ‘That's pretty high expectations, but you have to have them to make a deal like this,'” Machota wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The first thing for Porter is to get on the field, which he hasn't been able to do so far this season after dealing with a back injury since training camp. The good news is that Porter is trending in the right direction for his debut in Week 4 against the Houston Texans, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he was on some sort of pitch count.
The quicker that Porter can play, the better the Cowboys' defense will be. They've already had their ups and downs this season, and though one player won't change everything, it could be a start for them getting on the right track.
