The Utah Jazz have decided to turn down their team option worth $4.99 million for Isaiah Collier for the 2027-28 season. The 22-year-old guard, selected as the No. 29 pick of the 2024 draft, has spent three seasons in Utah and is now expected to emerge as a coveted free agent, per HoopsHype.
ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel claimed that Stewart is likely to emerge as a coveted free agent and is likely to have plenty of suitors. He also expressed optimism that Stewart is likely to be on the move before the February deadline. That means he may as well end up being used in a trade by the Jazz.
“Isaiah Collier will have plenty of suitors next offseason given his motor and shot-creating abilities,” he wrote. “Would not be surprised to see Collier on the move before February's trade deadline.”
In three seasons thus far, Stewart has averaged 9.9 points, 6.6 assists and four rebounds per game across 136 games in the NBA, 65 of which he has started. However, after starting 46 games in his rookie season, Collier started just 19 games last campaign and is yet to earn a start through six games this season.
Article Continues BelowCollier has played 18.5 minutes per game thus far, averaging 7.5 points, 5.7 assists and four rebounds per game, and has consistently been an able facilitator who excels at creating chances for his teammates. Collier averaged more than 7 assists per game last season and can be an important off-the-bench contributor for any team in the league.
Still, there are plenty of areas for improvement as well, most notably with respect to his three-point shooting. Collier has averaged two three-point attempts per game in his career thus far, and converts only 0.5 of them for an efficiency of around 25%. Further, his defensive impact has also consistently come under scrutiny, but there is no doubt that he has all the tools needed to be a high-impact player in the league.
