Now it seems that McCain is hyper focused into basketball mode while he prepares for his first full season with OKC. He was the 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and was traded back in February by the Philadelphia 76ers where he had his first two seasons in the league.

He revealed when he first got traded it was “heartbreaking” but he has received nothing but love since arriving at OKC.

During OKC's playoff run, McCain averaged 10.0 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assist across 15 games making his time on the court a vital part to the team's success. While they ultimately loss to the San Antonio Spurs at the Western Conference Finals, he was still able to reflect on his time in the WCF.

“I never had expectations for myself coming in,” he said. “Once I knew that I can provide some help for this team, it was almost like, let me. I want to do anything I can to help this team win.”

“If you told me four months ago that I would start in some Western Conference Finals games and play the role that I was able to play, not that I thought you were crazy, but I would look at you a little weird.”

McCain will be back on the court for OKC's first game of the season with a rematch against the Spurs on Oct. 20.
