Trevor Lawrence opened the season with a strong showing against the Cleveland Browns, delivering a poised performance that gave the Jacksonville Jaguars plenty to build on.

The Jaguars blew out the Cleveland Browns, 34-10, with Lawrence going 18-of-23 for 245 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He picked up right where he left off after he steered Jacksonville last season to its best record since 1999.

The win was also a gift to Ross Matiscik, who celebrated his 30th birthday on Monday. He invited his teammates to his house, where they also watched the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos. Lawrence admitted that he did not want to control the television and analyze the game during the party.

“I wasn't holding the remote, rewinding all the different pressure looks that Denver was doing, but when I got home, I did a little bit of that,”  said the sixth-year quarterback in a media conference.

“You see different things. Just how the Chiefs run an offensive play. You see Pat (Mahomes) might throw hot or something like that. I was like, ‘Okay, what made him hot?' and rewind it, and you start looking at it.”

The Chiefs crushed the Broncos, 31-10. Mahomes went 15-of-27 for 184 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He also had seven carries for 23 yards and a score.

The Jaguars will face the Broncos on Sunday, so reviewing how the Chiefs won might aid Lawrence.

“They (Broncos) led the league in sacks last year. Their pass rush is physical, and their defense is really good, so we're going to have to be ready to go Sunday,” said the one-time Pro Bowler in a report from Heavy's Erik Anderson.

Last season, Jacksonville defeated Denver, 34-20, in Week 16.
