The Jacksonville Jaguars will be facing the Indianapolis Colts this week, and there is a chance that the offense could be without one of their playmakers. Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has been dealing with a hamstring and ankle injury this week, and he didn't participate in practice on Friday. That has led to his status for Sunday's game being questionable, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco.
“Jaguars WR Jakobi Meyers is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Colts. S Antonio Johnson is out,” DiRocco wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Meyers was able to participate in a limited fashion on Wednesday and Thursday, so there should be some hope that he's able to suit up against the Colts. If not, Trevor Lawrence will have to spread the ball around to his other receivers, which he hasn't had a problem doing this season.
Brian Thomas Jr., who has been the subject of trade talks over the past few weeks, may be able to see more targets in the event that Meyers can't play. As far as the trade talks, it doesn't look like the Jaguars are interested in moving him anytime soon, according to NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter.
Article Continues Below“The mercurial Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver is a first-round talent who is now in his second season as the subject of trade rumors,” Rapoport and Schefter wrote. “Jacksonville has shown no signs of engaging in trade talks, though teams are expected to ramp up calls closer to the deadline. Thomas didn't play in the second half last week against the Houston Texans, furthering speculation.”
Things can definitely change on a weekly basis, so it wouldn't be a surprise if the Jaguars received a deal that they like and made a trade. As of now, it looks like they need him if Meyers can't go.
