The Los Angeles Dodgers recently announced multiple roster moves, including placing Tarik Skubal on the bereavement list and recalling Emmet Sheehan. The Dodgers earned a big series sweep over the San Francisco Giants this past weekend, as Sheehan played a role on Sunday. He followed an opener and turned in 5.1 innings of shutout baseball while striking out nine and allowing just one hit in a 3-1 win. Sheehan has certainly caught the attention of manager Dave Roberts.

“I've loved the version we've seen of Emmet the last three outings,” Roberts told reporters, via SportsNet LA. “He's been fantastic… Obviously there's a bereavement situation so we're going to option him, we have to send him back. My understanding is he will go back and pitch next Saturday for the OKC team (Dodgers' Triple-A team) in the postseason and then we will see where we go from there.”

The Dodgers have pitching depth, but Sheehan may be an option for the postseason roster. Sheehan has been up and down this year between MLB and the minor leagues. It can be challenging for a player to find consistency in that situation. Sheehan has performed well over his past three outings Roberts mentioned, allowing one run or less in each appearance.

“We've seen confidence… When you're essentially fighting for your life to create an opportunity for yourself, that's what I see,” Roberts added. “There's urgency. I like the way that he's trusting his stuff. He's in a good spot physically. The performance has been fantastic.”

Regardless of how much of an impact Emmet Sheehan makes in the postseason, one has to imagine he will be a serious candidate to earn a rotation spot in 2027. For now, Sheehan is focused on impacting the Dodgers in any way he can as the playoffs draw near.
