With all the stars on the Philadelphia 76ers, Jaylen Brown is very much a leader. Along with LeBron James, he brings experience and accolades, and he knows how to set the example.

That is until one brief embarrassing moment came on Wednesday as the 76ers took on the Detroit Pistons. It happened at the midway point of the 2nd quarter, when the 76ers led 48-31. Brown intercepted the pass and took it to the cup to lay it in. However, he lost his balance, bobbled the ball, and missed a wide-open layup.

Even Brown was perplexed by how he could have done that, and he showed how he would have executed the layup while flashing a weary smile.

Despite the mistake, the 76ers were up by a sizable margin going into the half, so no real harm was done. That is, if the Pistons make a dramatic comeback. At the half, the 76ers lead the Pistons 56-42.

Brown leads the way with 23 points and is shooting 8-for-12 from the field. Meanwhile, the 76ers are off to an expected hot start at 7-1. So far, Brown is averaging 20.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.

Over the summer, Brown traded to the 76ers, who sent Paul George to the Boston Celtics. Brown made a name for himself in Boston. He helped lead the Celtics to an NBA championship in 2024, and Brown was named MVP.

Now he is part of one of the most stacked NBA teams in recent memory that, frankly, has no excuse. So doing the little things, like making an open layup, goes a long way.
