The Chicago Bulls faced off against the defending champion New York Knicks on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden. Forward Jalen Smith was listed as probable on the NBA injury report due to a left finger sprain.
Unfortunately, Smith went down with a left hand injury midway through the game and won't be returning, per K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Sports Network. Veteran center Nic Claxton has been battling a hamstring injury during the preseason. As a result, Smith has been filling in in the starting lineup. At a time when the Bulls need a healthy big man, this news isn't welcome.
The significance of Smith's injury is unknown.
